This culinary delight combines the hearty satisfaction of potatoes with the rich flavours of caciocavallo and pecorino cheeses, layered with a luscious tomato sauce.
As it bakes, the kitchen fills with an irresistible aroma, promising a meal that comforts and satisfies.
Ideal for a cosy family gathering or as an impressive starter, this dish is perfect for those cooler months when you crave something warm and filling.
The addition of fresh basil not only enhances the aroma but also brings a vibrant touch of green, reminiscent of Sicilian landscapes.
Enjoy this traditional dish with a glass of Contea di Sclafani Rosso Riserva, a wine that beautifully complements the dish’s complexity and richness.
Boil the potatoes in salted water, peel them, and slice them.
Spread a layer of tomato sauce on the bottom of a baking dish and start layering potatoes, sauce, caciocavallo cheese, and pecorino cheese. Add basil leaves for flavour.
